Many farmers are experiencing problems with their coin-only Puppies. Once purchased, the Puppies are disappearing or hiding on farms.
Zynga has addressed this issue via Official FarmVille Forums:
“Hey Farmers,
We are aware of some technical issues with players purchasing the puppy that available for coins, most notably where the purchased puppy disappears shortly after purchase and feeding.
Our developers are currently working on this issue as we speak, and will update you as soon as we have more information available. For now, we appreciate your continued patience, and apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause you.
In the meantime, if you’re experiencing this issue, please answer the questions in Post #36 of the following thread:

Any information you can provide would be extremely useful in helping us narrow down the problem.”
